Own Runescape server?

Shall we make our own Runescape server? This would only be for people linked to the UGC, to train skills and have several competitions.

The exp rate will be likely the same as the original Runescape (maybe times 4-10).

What do you think of this idea? Comment!

I'm guessing you mean by runescape 2? i have limited java skills in that department as i have hosted a successful "Runescape Classic" private server we managed to reech over 70 players online at one time in just under a month. But if you are going to host a server like this i suggest purchasin a dedicated server or a vps(virtual private server), another suggestion if you do decide to do purchase one of these use a windows based OS unless you are very linux literate as you need to know all the specific commands to use in the terminal and it can become very complex unless you know what you are doing. Also, remember if you do make one of these servers choose whhere you advertise very carefully as i have been in many communities to do with private servers and their are alot of smart childish teens out their who own their server and like to play with kiddie scripts and botnets i have had many previous encounters of getting ddosed because i had more members then they do. For ddos protection on one of these types of servers it can cost hundreds of dollars. Specifications of the server you would really need atleast 1gb of ram minimum if you would like any help with any of this ask natalie to contact me.

The whole point to private runescape (2) servers is to have faster xp ratio so you level faster, for classic it's just to play again since you can't play nomore.

Nah, we're a community. We need to show ourselves to the world and be role models to the gaming nation! (What I mean is be pro xD)

Having our own server wouldn't get us anywhere anyway and it'll be a waste of time to put all that hard effort in it again. I'd say we raid a server on Jagex Runescape!

Yes, I do agree with [J]elly's point of view regarding this matter.

It would be unwise to make one of our own and not show ourselves to the rest of the world; however, an own server would likely increase the traffic on our website.

In an other point of view, if we raid one particular server of Runescape.com and show that as our 'Home'-server on the top pages, then we could advertise ingame about the UGC, and increase traffic less slightly...

Im going for the latter... now..

Lol!!! Listen I was recently a web designer for PWO. Which is pokemon world online let me tell you making a private server is stupid cuz you cant show the world and when we did we made each staff member 3-400 a week in ad revenue. I had to leave pwo sadly do to college lol. College sucks.
